Obituary for Robert "Bob" Hines

Robert "Bob" Hines
Robert Hines, age 57, of Butler, KY. passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital, Cincinnati, OH after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Robert was born on September 7, 1960, in Cincinnati, OH to Albert T. and Edna R. (Douglas) Hines. His parents preceded him, along with one sister, in death.

Robert joined the Army on November 22, 1978, at the age of 18, and stationed at Ft. Riley, KS. He retired on May 30, 1991, as a Sargent from the Armored Tank Division, stationed in Ft. Carson, CO. He also traveled overseas while active in the Army. It was while in the Army he developed a passion for tanks and enjoyed constructing plastic models of various tanks.

Robert lived in many places but his favorite was Okeechobee, FL. This is where he developed another passion of his which was turtles. He worked at a lock on the west side of Lake Okeechobee and he would see the tiny turtles trying to cross the busy highway from their nest. He would help them as much as he could. At his passing he had four turtles as pets and a friend made sure to give them a good home so he didn’t have to worry about them in his final days.
Robert was a member of the Butler Baptist Church and a former employee of the City of Butler. All whom mourn his passing.

Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Daryl Mullins of Butler Baptist Church on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown.
